Throughout our campaign I look forward to getting to know the people of District 5.  I’d like for you to know a little more about me.

I currently serve as Director of Athletic Facilities, Capital Projects and Events with the University of Alabama Athletic Department. I also serve as Director of Football External Affairs with the UA athletic department. I am also owner of Turnipseed Enterprises, a local homebuilding company. I joined the University of Alabama Athletic Department in October 2002. Prior to joining the staff at Alabama, I was owner of Calvary Construction and Calvary Flooring in Jefferson and Tuscaloosa Counties for seven years.

I am married to Melissa Nix Turnipseed, a native of Jefferson County. We have three daughters, Mallory, Marian, Marlee and one son, Lee.

Our ties to District 5 run deep. In addition to running a local construction company, Melissa’s father was born and raised in Walker County, and her grandfather, Brunner Nix, served as Sheriff of Walker County.

Our family is active in worship and service at First Baptist Church Tuscaloosa. I’m involved in a variety of local church and civic organizations including serving as RA teacher and Preschool committee member at First Baptist.  I am also a member of the Red Elephant Club, A Club, Monday Morning Quarterback Club, DCH Construction Committee, Kiwanis Club, U of A Alumni Association, and an active supporter of Younglife.

I am a 1995 University of Alabama graduate with a degree in Political Science, double-minoring in geology and general business. I was a member of the University of Alabama football team from 1990 – 1992, and served as a student assistant with the team from 1993 – 1995 after an injury. In the summer of 2005, I completed the Management Development Program from Harvard University.

Thanks for taking the time to learn more about me and family.  If you have a question or comment for me, please don’t hesitate to call or email me through this website. I look forward to hearing from you as we travel around  District 5.
